Hawaiian Shallow Koa Bowl, 8.375" diameter x 2" high, marked "Koa Maui".
Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 20th to early 21st century. A beautiful bowl of shallow form that is lathe-turned from finely grained koa wood boasting coffee, burnt umber, and russet veining wishing the caramel-hued matrix. The bowl presents with an annular foot, a planar basin surface, gradually swelling walls, and a petite, flared rim. The foot is signed with "Koa Maui" on the bottom to indicate the wood type and region of origin.
Stabilization to one hairline fissure along rim and walls with light adhesive residue along fissure.
