20th C. Hawaiian koa wood footed bowl, Hawaiian Islands.
Size: 7.2" diameter x 4.875" high
An attractive footed bowl that is lathe-turned from finely grained koa wood. The hemispherical bowl featured thick walls and a slightly curved-in rim, and the quad stem and wide foot enable the vessel to remain stable when placed on a flat surface. Provenance, private Hawaii collection, 1995-2010; formerly part of the M. Kobiashi collection, Hawaii, 1960-2000.
